If this is your first time preparing to print 3D printed shoes, the most common failures usually come from skipping the basic checks before tuning parameters.
1. Check material condition first
TPU 85A absorbs moisture easily. When it gets wet, the most common symptoms are stringing, rough surfaces, and unstable layer bonding.
2. Do not start too fast
Printing shoes is not the same as printing a simple PLA display model. Uppers and load-bearing areas need a more stable speed range. Get stable first, then optimize for speed.
3. Choose an easier model for your first pair
Start with a structure that is more forgiving. It helps build confidence and makes it much easier to calibrate your first parameter combination.
4. Do not skip filament drying
If the spool has been exposed to air for a while, dry it before printing. Dry filament usually improves the first print more than endless random parameter tweaks.
5. Keep the first layer simple and stable
Before chasing surface quality, first make sure adhesion and first-layer rhythm are stable. If the first layer is messy, everything after it becomes harder.
